James "Skip" Lonnie Lewis James “Skip” Lonnie Lewis, age 72, of Nashville, TN, passed away peacefully on the morning of October 30, 2024. Funeral services will be held at 12pm Tuesday, November 5, 2024 in the chapel of the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield, where we will honor and remember Skip’s extraordinary life.. Burial will follow in the Hopewell Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Born on August 29, 1952, to Andrew James Lewis and Mattie Butler Lewis, both of whom preceded him in death, Skip was a beloved son, brother, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. A proud graduate of Hume Fogg High School, Skip found his passion in the open road as a cross-country trucker. He relished every mile, sharing captivating stories of his travels and the adventures he encountered along the way.

Skip was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Martha, and his brother, Vernon Wayne Lewis.

He will be dearly missed by his children, David Lewis (Late Wife, Jane), James J. Lewis, Debbie (Ken) Herrmann, and Cindi (Cary) Power. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, James Michael Minton, Austin Hunter Lewis, Andrew Herrmann and Ashley Herrmann, as well as his great-granddaughters, Olivia Anne Minton and Emma Rose Minton. He is survived by his loving siblings: Mary Lewis Smith (Wayne), Sarah Lewis Link (John), Amelia Lewis Phillips (Randall), and Jack Lewis (Michelle).

Skip’s warmth, humor, and zest for life will be cherished in the hearts of all who knew him. He leaves behind a rich tapestry of memories that will be celebrated by family and friends.
