Funeral service for James Rufus “J.R.” Burgess, 98, will be Saturday, February 6, 2016 at 3:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Foreman and Rev. James Watts officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in Andrews Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, February 5, 2016 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
Mr. Burgess died on Thursday, February 4, 2016 at Decatur Morgan Hospital. He was born July 18, 1917, in Morgan County to William Luther Burgess and Martie (Kyker) Burgess. He was a farmer and was preceded in death by a son: Leon Burgess and his parents.
