James “Rudy” Rudolph McConnell, Sr, age 76 of Estill Springs, passed away on Tuesday, October 11, 2022, at Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga. He was born in Winchester, Tennessee on January 17, 1946 to the late James Ervin McConnell and Lucy Claire Steakley. Rudy was a car salesman at the Winchester Ford Dealership for over 60 years and also the former Police Chief for Estill Springs and Huntland. He also spent time heading security at the University of Tennessee Space Institute, serving as Constable for the Sixth District of Franklin County, and was a devoted thirty-second degree Mason and a Shriner. He loved car shows, fishing, camping, turkey hunting, and Alabama Football. Above all, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Max McConnell; grandson, Dalton Max Wiseman; and best friend, Charles Calloway. Rudy is survived by his loving wife of fifty-five years, Linda (Wiseman) McConnell; children, Cindy (Jeff) Wood, Donna (Jimmy) Anderson, James Rudy (Elizabeth) McConnell Jr, and Bobby (Angela) McConnell; grandchildren, Haydon van Hatmaker, Sissy (Josh) Hebert, Michaela Wood, Amanda Wiseman, Ricky “Bubba” (Britney) Wiseman, Dustin Wiseman, Katherine (Donald) Bobinski, Aiden Hoots, Brooklyn McConnell, Ronald McConnell, Timothy James McConnell, Anna Paige Ballard McConnell, and Bobby Max McConnell; nineteen great-grandchildren; sister, Brenda (Alvin) Steele; and beloved fur babies, Dolly, Rebel, Lil Ann, Rocky, and Lily. Visitation will be from 6-8pm on Saturday, October 15, 2022, at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 3:30 pm on Sunday, October 16, 2022, in the Moore-Cortner Chapel with Bro.
