Master Sergeant James Ronald “Jim” Thigpen
Jim loved and proudly served his country in the Air Force as an Aerospace Maintenance
Craftsman that allowed him to travel extensively. After retiring from the Air Force, he worked at the Pryor Field Airport in Decatur for North Alabama Aviation as an Aircraft & Power Plant Mechanic and Certified Aircraft Inspecter. After retiring in 2018, he enjoyed fishing and spending time with his wife and family. Jim was a graduate of Lexington High School, Class of 1974. He remained friends with many of his classmates until the end. He was well respected and liked by his Air Force Colleagues and coworkers. His life has been a positive influence on many.

Preceded in death by his Parents, Granddaughter Alexis Rose Szymczak. Grandparents James Odus and Mary Ritter Thigpen, Jesse T. and Ida Stafford, Brother-in-law Gary Reed.
Survived by his wife Connie Reilly Thigpen
Daughters, Andrea Thigpen Francisco (Ellery), Jennifer Ives Laurence (Shane), Sons, James Thigpen, Russell Szymczak (Amy).
Grandchildren, Elora, Evan & Brendan Francisco, Karsen & Austin Szymczak, Parker & Reece Richardson, Gracin & Blakely Laurence.
Sisters, Sandra Reed, Susan Brown (Tim)

The family will have a private memorial with full Military Honors at a later date.
The family would like to thank Affinity Hospice in Florence. A special thank you to his nurses, Shea, Katie, and Matt for their special care given to Jim during his last days. Also, thank you to Scarlett, Keith, and Brenda for their support during this time.
