James Rickey “Rick” Fowler died on December 8th, 2023, following a 30-month battle with cancer. He was 68 years old. Rick was born in Cullman, AL on April 4th, 1955. He moved to Huntsville, AL in 1964 with his family where he attended Huntsville High School and was a defensive back on the HHS Panther football team. He attended both Athens State University and the University of Alabama in Huntsville earning two degrees in Business Administration and CIS. He married his wife Anita in 1983 where they began their life together.
Rick was preceded in death by his father, Rev. James C. “Tommy” Fowler and mother, Opal Lee Fowler. Rick is survived by his sisters, Glenda Davis and Cindy Forrest (Steve); his wife, of over 40 years, Anita L. Fowler; three daughters, Jennifer Nikki Fowler (Jonathan), Christina Fowler Lee (Benjamin), and Morgan Fowler Doherty (Thomas); two grandchildren, Samuel Ford and Fowler Michael Thomas; one nephew, Steve Williams (Sarah); and two great-nephews, James and Oliver Williams.
Rick was an avid golfer, blues guitar enthusiast and devoted fan of Alabama Football and the Atlanta Braves. He spent almost every Saturday on the golf course perfecting his swing, cheering on his Alabama Crimson Tide, or playing with his grandchildren.
A visitation will be held at Laughlin Service Funeral Home in Huntsville, AL on Monday, December 11th, from 2 until 3 p.m. with a memorial service following in the Chapel.
