James Turner  Mr. James Richard Turner, age 94, of Vernon, AL, passed away Friday, July 14, 2023, at his residence.

Mr. Turner was born February 21, 1929, in Fayette County, AL, to the late Marvin and Addie Turner.  He served in the U.S. Army and Korean War, and was a farmer and small business owner.  Mr. Turner was a member of Academy Baptist Church, and enjoyed gardening, fishing, woodworking, and bowling.  He was also preceded in death by his granddaughter, Catrina Hall; five sisters, Louise Chaffin, Grace Stanford, Elouise Young, Effie Mae Davis, and Zadie Lee Cockrell; and three brothers, Grady Turner, J.W. Turner, and Clay Turner.

Funeral services will be Monday, July 17, at 2:00 PM, in the chapel of Chandler Funeral Home, with Bro. Keith Rhudy officiating.  Burial will follow at Furnace Hill.  Visitation will be 1:00-2:00 prior to the service.

Active pallbearers will be Christopher Hall, Steve Hollis, M.L. Hollis, Vance Herron, Jeff Wilson, and Larry Moore.  Honorary pallbearers will be Lecial Hollis and James Allen.

Survivors include his wife, Dorotha Turner, of Vernon, AL; two daughters, Sharon (Mark) Hall and Sandra (Billy) Dollar, both of Vernon, AL; four grandchildren, Christopher Hall, of Spanish Fort, AL, Erin (Jimmy) Lann of Lake Worth, FL, Sydney (Ryan) Cranford of Vernon, AL, and Brady Dollar of Vernon, AL; one brother, Billy Joe (Brenda) Turner of Guin, AL; one brother-in-law, Lecial (Sylvia) Hollis of Greenwood Springs, MS; one sister-in-law, Jewel Stark, of Vernon, AL; and a host of nieces and nephews.
