James R. “Red” Taylor, 72, of Iuka, Mississippi, died Monday, December 10, 2012, at the Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. Mr. Taylor was a member of the Iuka Church of Christ, and a U. S. Army veteran. He was formerly employed for thirty-five years as a police officer for the City of Iuka and the Tishomingo County Sheriff’s Department. He was also the owner and operator of Red’s Pawn Shop for many years. He loved the Green Bay Packers and St. Louis Cardinals baseball. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and softball, and sponsored a softball team for many years. Visitation is scheduled for 4:00 until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 11, at Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 12, at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel in Iuka, officiated by Lance Foster. Interment will follow in Forest Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers include Taylor Joslin, Derek Joslin, Trenton Brown, Mack Phifer, Eric Littlejohn, and Daniel Newsome. Honorary Pallbearers include Danny Wood, Terry Mack Whitehead, Donnie Wright, and James Thigpen. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS is entrusted with arrangements. He is survived by his wife, Mae Taylor of Iuka, MS; two daughters, Tina Joslin and husband, Ronnie, of Tishomingo, MS, and Missy Hickman and husband, Eddie Carr, of Baldwyn, MS; one sister, Retha Nunley of Iuka, MS; four grandchildren, Miranda Brown of Baldwyn, MS, Taylor Joslin of Tishomingo, MS, Derek Joslin of Tishomingo, MS, and Trenton Brown of Baldwyn, MS; and three great-grandchildren, Madyson Owens, Gavyn Owens, and Sophia Rizzo. He was preceded in death by his parents, T. J. and Cleo Taylor; two brothers, Mike Taylor and Danny Taylor; an infant brother; and a sister, Betty Faye Helton.
