James Paul Braly – Obituary

Mr. James Paul Braly, 81, of Florence, passed away at his home Friday, Oct. 18, 2013.
Visitation will be today, Sunday, Oct. 20, 2013, beginning at 1 p.m. at Elkins Funeral Home, Florence. The funeral will follow at 3 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. Henry Melton and the Rev. Tommy James officiating. Burial, with military honors, will follow in Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Braly was a graduate of Lexington High School and served in the U.S. Army as an MP during the Korean War. He attended Purdue University and was a mechanical engineer for the Firestone Corporation. His work took him many interesting places, including Brazil, where he and Mrs. Braly lived for two years. He enjoyed helping others and gardening.
Mr. Braly was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Carolyn Lucille McCain Braly; his parents, Solon N. Braly and Pauline Crawford Braly; brothers, Edwin Braly and Joseph N. Braly; sisters, Helen B. Blackshear, Hazel L. Kraus and Imogene B. Coffey.
He is survived by brothers, Alvin Braly, of Florence, Morris Braly and wife, Yvonne, of Decatur, and Lynn Braly, of Gautier, Miss.; sister, Sue Gamble and husband, Clyde, of Five Points, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews.
Thanks to the caring, loving family members who provided their help during Mr. Braly’s illness.
Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
