James Paul AskewIt is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of James “Paul” Askew, on August 4, 2024. Paul, who brought joy and warmth to everyone around him, was a cherished son, brother, grandson, nephew, partner, and friend.

Paul is survived by his devoted mother, Nicole Wren; father, Bryan Askew and stepmom, Tracy Priest; and brothers, Dustin Hewatt (Tara) and Derrick McLain and sisters, Stephanie Rodriguez, Halee and Hannah Askew. He was deeply loved by his grandparents, Cynthia Herring, Terry Campbell (Becky), and Brenda Askew. Paul is also remembered by several aunts, including April Hall (Alex), Jennifer Ryan (Paul), Elizabeth Gonzalez (Mario), Miranda Jones (Matt), and his uncle Michael Herring (Jonathan). He leaves behind a large number of close cousins, his partner Casey Clive, and very close special friend Jessica Lowman.

Preceding Paul in death were his grandfather, Thomas Askew; uncle Michael Askew; and brother Benjamin Askew.

Paul was known for his passion for spending time with family and friends. His creativity shone through in his handmade crafts, from knives made with antlers to crocheted bracelets and various woodworking projects. An avid lover of the outdoors, Paul had a special talent for finding beauty in the simplest things—transforming unremarkable rocks into beautiful treasures. He cherished his chickens, dog Boudreau, and the joy of planting vegetables and flowers. The solitude of the mountains held a special place in his heart.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 9th, 2024, from 2 p m – 4 p m, at Sharon Baptist Church, Old Chapel, 536 N. Ola Road, McDonough, Georgia, 30525 where family and friends are invited to celebrate Paul’s life and share their fond memories, dinner will follow the service.

In lieu of flower, the family ask for donations to be made to the National Arbor Day Foundation at https://www.arborday.org/
