James Parker Chandler
May 6, 1935 – February 16, 2016

Jim died February 16, 2016 at his home. He was born in Jenkins, KY, but lived most of his young life in Bristol, TN. A graduate in Engineering from UT, he and his wife B.J. (who passed away in 1989) came to Huntsville in 1960 and worked on the space program. He also worked for Chrysler in automotive design and retired from the Motorala sales office in 1998. He was active in his churches at Lakewood Baptist, Meridianville, and All Saints Lutheran as a deacon and working with youth. He wrote many Christian plays for the young people to perform. Many may remember him for giving out raffle tickets out at the NEACA craft shows, and his work at Huntsville Hospital. As an artist, he was always ready to draw a cartoon for the children.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanne Chandler; their four children and spouses, Chris Chandler and Jamee Lutz, Robert Moon, Anita Chandler, and Curt and Melissa Moon; and grandchildren, Ashley Chandler, Bailey Chandler, Nick Moon, Steve Moon and Ashley Lutz.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 19 at All Saint’s Lutheran Church. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 20 at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to All Saints Lutheran or Huntsville Hospital Foundation.
