James P. Ross – Obituary

JamesMr. James P. Ross, age 89, died Friday, July 5, 2013 at the Tennessee State Veterans Home in Humboldt, TN. James was born October 18, 1923 to the late William R. and Dovie D. Ross. He served in in the Army during the Normandy Invasion and many other engagements in World War II. His career consisted of employment as a lineman at Lexington Electric System; later on was a co-owner of McCollum and Ross Beauty Salon in Lexington and McCollum and Ross Beauty School in Jackson, TN. He was a Mason and a member of Woodmen of the World Organization and member of the VFW. He was also a member of Englewood Baptist Church. James is survived by one brother, Euther Dewaine Ross of Baker, FL. one sister, Mary Sue Meadows of Lexington, several nieces and nephews and one long time companion, Pat Mingledorff, as well as many friends. He was preceded in death by his lovely wife, Louise Blankenship in 1990. Also preceding him in death were three brothers, Truman, Orene, and Bill Ross, three sisters, Flossie Veteo, Jewel Horner, and Pearl Veteo. He was dearly loved by all his family and will be missed greatly. Funeral services will be held in the Chapel of Pafford Funeral Home on Monday, July 8, 2013 at 11AM, with Dr. Brent Lay officiating. Visitation hours are from 5pm-8pm on Sunday, July 7, 2013 at Pafford Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Hare Cemetery in Henderson County, TN. The family and Pat has requested memorials for James be directed to the church of choice, or your local Alzheimer’s/Dementia organization. The family would like to express their grateful appreciation to the Doctors, nurses, and staff at the VA Humboldt Hospital for their care of James. Pall Bearers to serve are Mark Mingledorff, Robert T. Ross, Tim Ross, Jeffrey Meadows, Albert Fesmire, and Wayne Hinson.
