James Novel (Fuzzy) Scott, age 71, a resident of Columbia, passed away on Monday, March 28, 2022, at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 30, 2022, at 1:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Roberts officiating. Military honors will be provided by the United States Army. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. A visitation will also be held on Wednesday, March 30 from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at the funeral home. The family requests that anyone who plans on attending the visitation or funeral service, please wear a mask. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
James was born on January 13, 1951 at King’s Daughters Hospital in Columbia, Tennessee. He was the son of the late William Thomas Scott and the late Virgie (McCanless) Scott. James was a handicap bus driver for Maury County Public Transportation. The children he provided this service for absolutely loved him. Earlier in his life, James served his country as a sergeant in the United States Army. He also enjoyed working in his yard. James especially loved Kathy, his wife of 30 years; she was the apple of his eye. James was a member of the Parkway Baptist Church in Columbia, Tennessee.
James is survived by his wife, Kathy (Johnson) Scott, daughter, Geneva Sutton of Albuquerque, New Mexico, sister, Mary Jane (David) Sparkman, grandchildren, Angel Sutton, Christopher Sutton, Ashley Sutton, Taylor Hollins, Monica Hollins and Harlan Hollins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by son, Christopher Shelton, brothers, William Thomas Scott, Jr. and Charles Wayne Scott.
Pallbearers will be Joe Kelly, William Bayson, Tim Norman, Jack West, Arnold Frances and Tommy Goetz. Honorary pallbearers will include employees of the Maury County Public Transportation.
