obituary imageJames Matthew Hostick, age 77, formerly of Cummings, GA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 2nd, 2024 at the Life Care Center of Tullahoma. James, better known as Jim, was born on August 7th, 1946 in Springfield, IL to the late Clarence Matthew & Virginia Mary (Ray) Hostick Jr.. During his life, he was known to be a very funny and sociable man who loved spending time with his family and friends above anything else. He loved everything to do with Nascar, even owning his own funny car team at one point. He loved to watch movies, whether on his couch or at the theater, with action and political movies being his favorite. He loved to travel the globe and live life to the fullest… usually with a Tanqueray and tonic in one hand and a cigar in the other. He truly knew how to have a great time. Jim was born a Catholic and made it a priority throughout his life to maintain his faith, going to mass at the Catholic Church in Cummings, GA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Patricia Hostick and both sisters, Mary Pat Hostick Perlmutter and Christine Hostick-Leinum. Jim is survived by his daughters, Lynn (Gary) Schaufler, Michelle (David) Bull, and Angela (Jerry) Tatarow; grandchildren Laura Van Metre, Matthew Schaufler, Whitney Bull, Jeremy Tatarow, Jake Tatarow and Aaron Bull; great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Kairi and Clara; brothers, Michael (Kathy) Hostick and Steve (Nancy) Hostick; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 8th, 2024 from 1:00-2:00pm at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home with Memorial services following at 2:00pm with Deacon Phillip Johnson, officiating.
