James Marvin McCullough (Jim), 81, of Decatur, Alabama, passed away December 10, 2023, at his home in Decatur.

Jim was born June 10, 1942, in Birmingham, Alabama, son of the late Marvin McCullough and the late Irene Doty McCullough.  Jim was preceded in death by wife Judy B McCullough.

Surviving are his Wife, Charlo McCullough; Sister Billie Jean (Gerald) Robinson; Daughter, Amy (David) Mitchell; Son, Jason (Lisa) McCullough; Son, David (Melinda) McCullough; Step Son, Bo Harris; Step Son, Kelly Harris; Step Daughter Paige Blankenship; Grand Children, Tristen Mitchell, McKenzie Mitchell, Pate (Adi) McCullough, Parker McCullough, Sam McCullough, Bo Tyler Harris, Eli Harris, Tab Harris, Thad Harris, and Naomi Blankenship.

Jim was a 1965 graduate of Auburn University earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture.  He worked for the Soil Conservation Service for over 30 years where he retired as Area Director .   He also served in the Army Reserve where he retired as a Sergeant after serving over 30 years.  Jim enjoyed his life in Decatur and loved time spent on the Tennessee River, whether boating with friends and family, or overlooking it from his home.  Jim was active in the Fraternal Order of the Eagle.  Jim also enjoyed spending time attending Auburn University Football games with friends and family.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Jim’s honor to the American Diabetes Association https://diabetes.org/ or to The Conservation Fund https://www.conservationfund.org/

All are invited to a celebration of life  visitation Saturday, December 16, 2023, from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Ridout’s Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Decatur.
