James Marcus “Mark” King – Obituary

James Marcus “Mark” King, age 61, Russellville, passed away on Monday, October 27, 2014, with his family by his side.

Mark was an active member of Rockwood Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and worship leader. His music ministry also included singing in two local quartets – The Jubilations and The Faithful Servants. Always active in his children’s sports, he served as a past president of the Russellville Little League Association and the Russellville High School Basketball Booster Club. An avid outdoorsman, he taught his children and grandchildren to love hunting and the outdoors. He was devoted to his family and set a Godly example for all to follow.

The visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at Spry Memorial Chapel. The funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at Spry Memorial Chapel. Officiating at the service will be Bro. Kris Green. Burial will be at Franklin Memory Gardens.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Debbie Bolton King; his children, Jonathan King (wife, Heather), Carmen Poss (husband, Jim), Casey King; grandchildren, Jayna Poss, Cole King, Will King, Javan Poss, Anna Claire King, Asher Poss, and Kingzlee Poss; his parents, James & Maxine King; siblings, Pam Boyles, Brenda Boyles, Debbie Hatton, and Randy King; and a large extended family.

The family would like to extend their thanks to the following for their compassionate care and concern during Mark’s illness: Troy and Linda King; Staff of Northwest Alabama Cancer Center; Dr. Brian Richards; and the Fourth Floor Staff of Helen Keller Hospital.

Spry Memorial Chapel assisted the family.
