F.02.12.24 JM VanEaton.jpg James Mack “J.M.” VanEaton, 86, of Tuscumbia, passed away on Friday, February 9, 2024. A Celebration of Life will be held locally at a later date.

J.M. was a native of Memphis, Tennessee where he attended Tech High School and was a resident of the Shoals for the past 4 years. He was a veteran of the Air National Guard. J.M. was the legendary Memphis Sun Records drummer, and a member of the Duncan Williams Investments Firm. His final years were spent working with Billy Lawson at Wishbone Studios in Muscle Shoals. J.M. was an avid fisherman and enjoyed attending Mass at Our Lady of the Shoals Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hobart and Annie Lou VanEaton and 4 sisters.

J.M. is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Deborah VanEaton; children, Anna Blumberg (Mike), Dr. Alex Lebrija (Cali), Mack VanEaton, Terri Downing, and Tim VanEaton; brother, Richard VanEaton (Sandra); and a host of grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
