James Lester Deen, 85, of Elkmont, Alabama passed away at his home Wednesday, January 31, 2024. Mr. Deen was born Saturday, November 19, 1938 in Pierce County, Georgia to Harvey Deen and Mirtice Carter Deen.
He loved his immediate and extended family, with a special love for his grandchildren. He enjoyed gardening and taking care of his cows. He retired from the Army as S.F.C.
Mr. Deen is preceded in death by his parents; sons, Tim Deen and Terry Deen; 2 sisters and a brother.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Laura Evangeline Strickland Deen; daughters, Sherri Kimery and Susan Beer both of Elkmont, AL; daughter-in-law, Sam Deen of Ardmore, AL; grandchildren, James Christopher Deen, Kyle Beer, Renee’ (Chris) Gore, Jessica Deen, and Laura Kimery (David Griffith); along with 5 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
Visitation will be held Monday, February 5, 2024 from 12 Noon until 2:00 P.M. at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home, Ardmore, Alabama with the Funeral Service following in the Chapel at 2:00 P.M. Pastor Chris Gore will officiate. Burial will follow at Gatlin Cemetery, Ardmore, Alabama
