James Leon Crosslin – Obituary

James Leon Crosslin, 85, of Florence, passed away on July 13, 2017 at his residence.

Visitation will be at Greenview Funeral Home on Saturday, July 15, 2017 from 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. The funeral will begin at 12:30 p.m. in Greenview Memorial Chapel with Brother Tim Wooten and Devin Kurts officiating.  Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Park with members of the Florence Masonic Lodge #14 F&AM bestowing rites.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Edith May Crosslin; son, Steven Leon Crosslin and parents, James Edward Crosslin and Annie Pearline McMullin Crosslin.

Survivors include his sons, Edward Douglas Crosslin of Florence, Phillip James Crosslin (Alonda) of Killen and John Anthony Crosslin (Regina) of Florence; daughter, Joan Rae Sharp and step-daughter, Pam Hamner both of Florence; brother, George David Crosslin (Sandy) of  Dadeville, Ala.; sister, Wanda Dare Crosslin Jones of Greenhill; grandchildren, Steve Fulmer, James Fulmer, Jennifer Crews, Kim Trousdale, Shea Austin, Sarah Sharp, Bonnie King, Tanner Crosslin, Kyndall Crosslin, Krysten Crosslin, Amber Thompson and Addie Crosslin and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church, member of Masonic Lodge #14 F & AM, 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason, Charter Member and past president of the Muscle Shoals Shrine Club; member of the Shriner Road Runners and Shriner Frisky Freak Parade Unit; member of the Cahaba Temple. He was inducted into the Truck Driving Hall of Fame in 1993, while driving for Airco –Boc Gases, having logged 3 million miles without an accident.  He was inducted into N.P.T.C. Driver Hall of Fame in San Diego, California.

Serving as pallbearers will be the members of the Masonic Lodge #14 F & AM.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Charles Burchell, Adam Burchell, Thomas McCutcheon, Greg Johnson, Lloyd Staggs, Geary Scott, David Letson, Alver Hancock and Don Mariletti.

The family would like to extend special thanks to his neighbors on Hike Drive, especially Jerry and Evelyn Reatherford and Lewis Richie. A special thanks also goes to the Good Samaritan Hospice, Bobbie Woods and Michelle Madden.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shriner’s Hospital 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, Florida 33607.

Leon was a good fun man and a good Shriner. Nelson and I both loved Leon. RIP
