James Leon Bell
Leon passed away on Sunday, October 29, 2023, at the age of 81, in the presence of his beloved family.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Linda Newsom Bell, his oldest son, Alan and his brother, Carl.
He is survived by brother Steve, his son Len and his wife, Michelle and his daughter Cathy and her husband, Joey. In addition, he leaves behind grandchildren Brandi (Nat), Christina (Stephen), Summer (David), Taylor, Ethan, Ellie and great-grandchildren Clayton, Breanne (Davram), Nathan, Christina, Harley, Lindan, Elliott, Theo, Nora, and Evelynn.
Upon completing his service in the U.S. Navy, he worked at 3M in Decatur from which he retired after 35 years of faithful service. He and Linda owned the Laundry House in Decatur where they loved to serve the public. Leon was the patriarch of his close-knit family and was generous to all he knew. He loved God, his family, and his country.
A Graveside service will be held Thursday, November 2, 2023 at 2:00PM at Decatur City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:30PM to 1:30PM at Shelton Funeral Home Chapel.
