James Lee DeWeese, 73, of Hazel Green passed away on Thursday.

James was a 1964 graduate of Hazel Green High School, served in Vietnam while in the United States Army, and had retired from the Huntsville Times after 33 years of employment.  He had a passion for hunting, fishing, riding his Harley, Alabama football, and was a member of The Fraternal Order of Eagles and the National Rifle Association.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Haskel & Opal DeWeese, and by his twin sons, Kurt & Keith DeWeese.

Surviving family members include his daughter and son-in-law, Jeanne & Chan Perkins;  His son and daughter-in-law, Brad & Amy DeWeese;  His four grandchildren: Chander & Kaitlyn Perkins, Paisley DeWeese, and Sadie DeWeese;  His sister, Linda Wilson. He is also survived by a nephew, many cousins and friends.

The family will receive friends on Sunday from 6 until 8pm at Hazel Green Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be Monday at 2pm at the funeral home with Bro. Randy Pyle officiating.  Burial will follow in Plainview Cemetery.
