James L. “Jim” Barnes, 73, of Iuka, Mississippi, died Monday, October 21, 2013, at North Mississippi Medical Center – Iuka. He was a member of Spring Hill United Methodist Church. He was a retired Conservation Officer with the Mississippi Department of Wildlife Fishery and Parks. He enjoyed playing golf, fishing, and loved being with his family. Visitation is scheduled for 11 AM until 1 PM on Wednesday, October 23 at Spring Hill United Methodist Church. Funeral services are scheduled for 1 PM on Wednesday, October 23, 2013, at Spring Hill United Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. J.B. Burns and Rev. Mike Westfall. Interment will follow in Spring Hill United Methodist Church. Pallbearers include Ricky Cornelison, Randy Stringer, Tim Ryan, Danny Holland, Sid Whitehurst, and Jimmy Smith. Honorary bearers will be Wayne Woods, Matthew Woods, Lamar “Fuzz” Bolton, Robert Stringer, Ty Bennett, and Dr. Donald Robertson. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS is entrusted with arrangements. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Evelyn Grisham Barnes of Iuka; 1 son – Keith Barnes of Nashville, TN; 1 sister – Linda Woods (Wayne) of Fort Payne, AL; 1 sister in law – Joann Bolton (Lamar “Fuzz”) of Iuka; 1 nephew – Matt Woods (Jennie) of Fort Payne, AL; 1 niece – Kim Carpenter (Shane) of Corinth; 2 great nephews – Guy Carpenter and Blake Woods; and 1 great niece – Katie Beth Woods. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Gertie Barnes; his sister, Yvonne Barnes; and his brother, Jackie Barnes. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Jim to Springhill United Methodist Church Building Fund at 479 Highway 364 Tishomingo, MS 38873.
