James (Jimmy) Stroud, 72, of Athens, passed away on Saturday, August 27th, 2022, at Valley View Health and Rehabilitation. Mr. Stroud was born on July 2nd, 1950, to James and Hazel Stroud.
Mr. Stroud is survived by his wife Mary Stroud; son Clay Stroud (Ivy); daughters Jennifer Miller (Chris) and Whitney Stroud Taylor (fiancé Connor); grandchildren Riley, Cody, and Lola Stroud, Bo and Layla Hosner, and Brandon Taylor; sister Ann Mattlock of Tallahassee, FL, and nephews; step-daughter Angela Chattin (Jeff); step-grandson Alex Schwarz; step-son Michael Clem (Beth); step-grandson Brayden Clem (Reagan); step-great grandson Ridge Daniel Clem; step- granddaughter Raegan Clem.
Preceded in death by his parents James and Hazel Stroud; and granddaughter Katie Lynn Taylor.
Funeral services for Mr. Stroud will be Wednesday, August 31st, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home, with Bill Irby officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 11:00-1:45 p.m. at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Clay Stroud, Bo Hosner, Chris Miller, Scott Claxton, Kenny Blythe, and Connor Roth. Honorary Pallbearers will be Larry White, Shannon Terry, Joe Don Bailey, Doug Fields, Lance Davis, and Mike Davis. Burial will be at Athens City Cemetery.
Mr. Stroud was a funeral director for over fifty years and was past co-owner of Limestone Chapel Funeral Home. He was a member of West Hobbs St. Church of Christ and Lions Club. He was a PTA member and a past president. Mr. Stroud loved everyone.
