James “Jimmy” Lewis Gray Jr. – Obituary

Funeral service for James “Jimmy” Lewis Gray Jr., 67, of Hartselle will be Wednesday, February 19, 2014, at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Wayne Bumgart officiating. Burial will be in Falkville City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Gray, who died Sunday, February 16, 2014, at River City Care & Rehab, was born February 12, 1947, in Morgan County to the late James Lewis Gray and Novajo Scott Gray. He was retired from D.O.D. after 37 years of service. He was in the U.S. Army in Southeast Asia during the Vietnam War, where he was a Communications Officer on Secret Missions with the CIA and Diplomats. He was the President of Buck Hollow Hunting Club. He was an avid hunter, killing more than 100 deer in his lifetime. He loved teaching his children, grandchildren and nephews to hunt. Some of his fondest memories were of hunting with his uncle, Max Gray. He was the treasurer for W.O.W. Lodge 193.

Survivors include his wife, Kathy McDonald Gray; one son, Jeremy Shane Gray of Hartselle; one daughter, Jessica Gray Shadden of Falkville; one sister, Teresa Gray Bumgart of Falkville; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Bray McDonald, Roger Hollaway, Scott Dotson, Brandon Dotson, Nic Bumgart and Luke Bumgart.

Family wishes to extend special thanks to Dr. Robert Allen, Charles Prickett, Betty Wright and Teresa Bumgart.
