James “Jim” Wesley Parnell, Jr. age 75 of Franklin, TN died suddenly and totally  unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 due to the seeming results and complications from extreme weakness due to the combination of a-flutter and Eliquis (blood thinner). Thank you especially to the large group of Williamson County EMS that provided their expertise to try and change the outcome. He was born in Memphis, TN to the late James Wesley Parnell, Sr. and Florence Glenn Parnell. He attended grade school and high school, graduating in 1966, from a recently begun private school sponsored by the Church of Christ. The school was Harding Academy in Memphis, TN. He served in the Army Reserves for six years, and his draft number was #23. He was a graduate of Freed-Hardeman College, David Lipscomb College, and the University of Tennessee Knoxville where he received his law degree. Jim practiced law for 25 years in Franklin, primarily doing real estate work and representing utility districts. Jim was a Christian and member of the Church of Christ, and unquestionably believed in the Lord. He enjoyed archery, boating at Center Hill Lake, camping, canoeing the Ocoee and Harpeth rivers. He also enjoyed gardening on Stillhouse Hollow Road in Hillsboro, which now has become “Historic Leipers Fork”. Jim had a good sense of humor and could easily entertain you. He is preceded in death by his younger sister, Sandy J. Parnell Hamlet. Jim is survived by his wife of 53 years, Judy Shipley Parnell of Franklin, TN; sister, Carolyn Parnell (Dwight) Sturm of Parkersburg, WV; brother, Ron (Virginia) Parnell of Atlanta, GA; brother in-law, Roger Hamlet of Manchester, TN; four nieces, four nephews and several grand nieces & grand nephews.
