James “Jim” Ward Bynum Jr.

James “Jim” Ward Bynum Jr., age 79, passed away on Friday, April 14, 2023 at MS Care Center in Corinth, Mississippi. Jim was born Sunday, September 26, 1943 to the late James Ward Sr. and Marguerite Dilworth Bynum.

Mr. Bynum was a proud member of West Corinth Pentecostal Tabernacle Church. He was a member of the United States Air Force where he received an honorable discharge Mr. Bynum often volunteered as a driver for other veterans bringing them to and from the Veteran Affairs Office in Memphis, Tennessee. Jim was a graduate of Corinth High School. He was an avid basketball and football fan, mostly watching Ole Miss and the Auburn War Eagles games. Jim enjoyed boating and camping while taking in nature. Jim was dedicated to public service and served as the City of Corinth Street Commissioner for around 15 years. Mr. Bynum was a charismatic person and loved his family and grandboys.

Mr. bynum was preceded into death by his parents and one sister; Vickie Lynn Lassiter.

Jim is survived by one son; James Ward Bynum III (Sarah), one daughter Dawn Colvert (Phillip); one sister, Mary Allie Peterman (Vice Admiral David Brian Peterman); and for grandboys, Sean Phillip Colvert, Samuel Walker, James Ward Bynum IV, and Brooks Bynum.

There will be a Celebration of Life Service held Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at McPeters Funeral Director Inc. with Bro. Merle Dixon officiating beginning at one o’clock in the afternoon. The family will accept friend beginning at eleven o’clock in the morning until service time.

McPeters Funeral Director and staff are in charge of the services.
