James "Jim" William Little James (Jim) W. Little, 91, of Ardmore, TN, passed away on July 25, 2023. He was born in Meridianville, AL to Dewey and Jessie (Freeman) Little on July 23, 1932.

Jim served in the US Air Force during the Korean war and began his career as a schoolteacher, then as a technical writer for companies like SCI in Huntsville. He worked on several Apollo missions. Jim was also an avid fiction and autobiographical writer and belonged to a writer’s group in Pulaski, TN. He was a wonderful father to his 3 children.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Charles D. Little, Walker Little, Robert Little, his sisters, Louise Hughes, Glenda Mock, his son, David Little, and grandson, Noah Cullen.

Jim is survived by his son, Michael Little, of Prospect, TN, daughter, Tanya (Jeffrey) Cleary of Tequesta, FL, sister Erlyne Gentle, of Huntsville, brother Ron Little, of Largo, FL, granddaughter, Anne (Max) Mertens, great grandson, Mason Mertens, of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, his ex-wife, Mary Williams, of Toney, AL, his devoted friend, Shirley Martin, of Huntsville, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, July 29, from noon to 2 pm, at Ardmore Funeral Chapel in Ardmore, AL. The family is so grateful to the wonderful staff at Elk River Nursing Home in Ardmore and hospice staff of Compassus. A special thanks to Richard (Buster) Little and Linda Mullinix for all their love and support.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in his name be made to St Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Condolences may be sent to 827 Shady Grove Rd, Toney, AL 35773
