The funeral service for Mr. James “Jim” Robertson will be Wednesday, October 2, 2024 at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Peck Funeral Home. A visitation will be held Tuesday, October 1, 2024 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Peck Funeral home. Pastor Jonathan Todd and Reverend Amy Parsons-Vaughn officiating. Burial will follow at Forrest Chapel Cemetery.
Jim passed away Friday, September 27, 2024 at Decatur Morgan Hospital at the age of 80. He was born in Ohio to Mr. Edgar and Delores Brough Robertson on April 27, 1944. He worked as a Manufacturing Manager for Standard Products/Ilpea prior to retirement. His employees respected him and many have said that he was the best manager they had ever worked for. Jim always focused on the positive and had a wonderful attitude that shined throughout his life to family and friends. He was a people person who never met a stranger. One of many past times was working puzzles and woodworking to which upon completion of a puzzle he would make a frame to put it in. He enjoyed his red Mustang and watching sports especially basketball. He worked out for most of his life, played tennis and basketball in his younger years and was nicknamed “Little Dynamite”. He took great delight watching his granddaughter L.C. play softball. He liked to spend time sitting on his porch with his Boxer “Roxi” and watch his hummingbirds. He loved life and his family immensely.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Gloria Robertson
Sons, Eric James Robertson (Lizette) and Greg Allen Robertson (Cathy)
Daughters, Krista Rae Gutierrez (Anthony) and Amanda Lynn Raley (Matt)
A brother Jerry Dale Robertson (Kathy)
A sister, Karen Sue Simpkins
15 Grandchildren
6 Great grandchildren
Pall bearers will be Michael Williams, Paul Schiefley, Ron Johnston, Ron Holt, Tim Estep and Scott Walling
Honorary Pall bearers will be Jim’s grandsons, Evan Sanford and Tom Brough
