James “Jim” Lynn Jackson, age 82, of Franklin, TN, passed away on December 15, 2024. He was born in San Diego, California, to the late Alden and Melba Jackson.
Jim graduated from McCallum High School in Austin, TX. After high school, he graduated from Florida State University with a bachelor’s degree in science and obtained his master’s and PhD in physical chemistry from the University of Texas.
Jim married Sandra Carey in 1967, and they moved to Austin, TX, and then Georgetown, TX, where he later became a Main Street Baptist Church member. Jim was a research scientist who had worked at the same location his entire career. He started at Jefferson Chemical Company out of graduate school, was acquired by Texaco Chemical Company, and later acquired by The Huntsman Corporation before he retired. He was blessed to enjoy retirement for over 20 years. Jim enjoyed running, woodworking projects, and cheering on his Florida State Seminoles and Texas Longhorns.
Jim and his family wish to express gratitude to his healthcare team and caregivers throughout his journey, especially those at The Harpeth at Harmony Hills, Aveanna Hospice, and BlueSky House Calls.
Jim is preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Sandra Carey Jackson. He is survived by son, Ben Jackson of Dallas, TX; daughter, Jennifer (Aaron) Helton of Franklin, TN; grandchildren, Matthew (Rachel) Helton of Colorado Springs; and Luke Helton of Franklin, TN. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM (EST) on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis, NC.
