James (Jim) Edward Richardson

  James (Jim) Edward Richardson of Marietta, Georgia passed away on January 22, 2021 at the age of 81. After a month of declining health, Jim died peacefully with beloved family by his side.

Jim was born in West Palm Beach, Florida to William Homer Richardson and Nancy Inez Simmons Richardson and raised in Mobile, Alabama. He was a graduate of Auburn University who played lead french horn in the AU marching band. After serving his country in the U.S. army, Jim went on to be a successful businessman for many years which gave he and his wife, Patricia, the opportunity to travel and live in different places around the U.S. and internationally. Jim was a member of First Baptist Church of Powder Springs. Serving as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, and church orchestra member brought him great joy over the years. Spending time with his family, fishing on the Tennessee River and model railroading were all hobbies he enjoyed. Jim was known among friends and family as a quick-witted storyteller and entertaining tour guide.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Patricia Ann Richardson. He will be lovingly remembered by his brother Robert William Richardson (Gloria); daughters Susan Richardson Flannagan, Carol Richardson Dekle (Stephen); grandchildren Sarah Ann Flannagan, Abby Flannagan Allen (Copeland), Stephen Gregory Dekle, Peter Judson Dekle, Julie Lynne Dekle and Kalei Ann Dekle; great-grandchildren Braxton James Allen and Addelynn Rae Allen; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service is planned for Saturday, January 30th, 2021 at 2 pm CT. The service will be held at Huntsville Memory Gardens Cemetery at 6810 University Dr NW, Huntsville, AL. All are invited to attend. The service will be live streamed by Berryhill Funeral Home for those unable to attend. Per COVID-19 precautions, masks and social distancing are encouraged during the outdoor gathering.
