James "Jamup" Edward Elks James “Jamup” Edward Elks, age 87 of Decherd, passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2020 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Franklin County on November 17, 1932 to the late Aubrey and Daisey (Walls) Elks. Before his retirement, James worked in final assembly for Batesville Casket Company. A talented handyman, he enjoyed doing carpentry, electric, plumbing, and masonry concrete work, as well as farming. He was always willing to help family and friends when needed. James attended Tullahoma Church of God. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Curtis Elks; and nephew, James Robert Elks. James is survived by his loving wife of sixty-eight years, Wanda Walls Elks of Decherd; sisters, Jean Goodrum of Antioch, and Georgie Teeters of Winchester; several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews. Visitation will be from 2-4 pm Saturday, September 19, 2020 at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow at 4:00 pm in the Moore-Cortner Chapel with Bishop Ronnie Holloway officiating.
