James “Jake” Calvin Mitchell, of Lacey’s Spring, Alabama passed away at Huntsville Hospital on Sunday, August 18, 2024. Jake, age 79, was born May 29, 1945 in Morgan County, AL. He was one of twelve children born to James Taylor Mitchell and Bertha Lee Mitchell. Jake worked for Chrysler Corporation as a Line Foreman. Jake spent the majority of his life in the Lacey’s Spring community which provided the opportunities for him to take part in his favorite activities. He loved being outdoors. Hunting, fishing, and motorcycle riding occupied the majority of his free time.
Jake is survived by his son and daughter in law, Kevin D. and Kathy Mitchell; grandchildren, James Cisson (Taylor) and Ben Mitchell; brothers, Payton “Boone” Mitchell, William Mitchell and Arthur Mitchell; sisters, Vivian Morrow, Wanda Mitchell, Brenda Kelly, Donnie Moore, DeeDee Mitchell and Annette Denny.
Preceding Jake in death include his parents, James Taylor and Bertha Lee Mitchell; sisters, Betty Clifton and Linda Roberson.
Services for Jake will be on Wednesday, August 21, 2024 at Brindlee Mountain Chapel in Morgan City. Visitation time will be between the hours of 12:00 noon and 2:00 pm. The funeral service will follow beginning at 2:00 with Brother Patrick Youngblood officiating. Burial will be in Brocks Chapel Cemetery in Union Grove. Arrangements entrusted to Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel.
