When he got home from serving our country he worked for Burgess Construction Company hauling heavy equipment all over Alabama. After that, he was an instructor at Wallace State Community College, teaching diesel and heavy equipment, all the while running a cattle operation at home. Jack received his Bachelor’s degree from Athens State University in business while working at USBI in Huntsville, AL. After retiring he opened his own Tack and Saddle Shop where he built and repaired many saddles. Everyone that knew him knew he always had a story to tell, and a laugh to give, along with a pocket full of candy. He taught his kids and grandkids that working hard and being honest was everything, but don’t forget to have some fun along the way.
