James (Jackie) Howard Barnett age 82 of Athens died Saturday at his residence.
Mr. Barnett was born March 17, 1941 in Winter Haven, Florida, raised in Anderson, Alabama and had been a resident of Athens for fifty years. Mr. Barnett was retired from Federal Mogul, and was an avid gardener. Mr. Barnett was a member of First Baptist Church for fifty years.
Services will be 2 pm Tuesday in the Chapel of Spry Funeral Home in Athens, with Joe Teal officiating, burial in Bethel Cemetery in Anderson. Visitation Tuesday from 12 noon until service at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Nephews and men of the Men’s Senior Class at First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of Sixty years, Jane Raney Barnett of Athens. Son’s James A. Barnett of Florence and Jody S. Barnett of Harvest. Brother, Charles (Myra) Barnett of Huntsville. Brother In Laws, Jerry (Cheryl) Raney of Pulaski, Tennessee. Joel (Susie) Raney of Chicago. Illinois. Several Nieces and Nephews.
