James J. “Jimmy” Pittman, Jr. was born on May 15, 1952 in Clarksdale, MS. to the late James J. Pittman, Sr. and Delphia Hutchinson Pittman.  Proud of his Delta heritage, Jimmy grew up in Coahoma County and attended the public schools there.   He loved the Delta where he completed his education at Clarksdale High School.  A patriotic American, Jimmy served in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War from 1970-1972 where he was stationed in Germany most of his tour of duty.    He worked many years for Super Sagless in Tupelo before becoming employed with Harbor House.   Jimmy met his Creator after a brief illness on Tuesday, November 8, 2022 from NMMC Hospice.  He enjoyed life, was a jack of all trades with superlative abilities with his hands and mechanical mind, enjoyed Elvis, ole time Rock and Roll music and sports of all kinds especially football, baseball and basketball.  Jimmy struggled early in life but was humbled by his faith in God and his ability to remain clean and sober for 38 years at the time of his death.  His family expresses gratitude to God for his watch over Jimmy and will sorely miss him.

Jimmy is Survived by his daughter, Stephanie Marie Pittman of Tupelo; grandson Spencer Pittman; two sisters, Linda Edwards (Larry) of Taylor, and Judy King of Tupelo, and other near relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wife Claudia Pittman who passed in January of 2001 and the mother of his child Remona Pittman who passed January 2, 2015, and his sister Renee Moore.

Holland Funeral Directors is honored to be severing their friends during this time of need.
