Funeral service for James Howard Curtis, age 74, of Decatur, will be Wednesday, February 11, 2015, 2:00 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Eddie Scheler officiating and Shelton Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to service. Interment will be in Burningtree Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Curtis, who died Saturday, February 7, 2015, at Decatur Morgan Hospital, was born January 16, 1941, in Tennessee, to Howard Curtis and Fannie Isley Curtis. He was preceded in death by his parents. Following 32 years of service, Mr. Curtis retired from G.E. in 1998. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and the American Legion, and also served in the Tennessee National Guard.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Frederick Curtis of Decatur; one daughter, Tonya Thompson of Danville; two sisters, Mary Chumbley of Columbia, TN, and Fannie Love of Lewisburg, TN; three grandchildren, Montana Thompson, Sierra Thompson, and Neisha McDonald; and two great-grandchildren, Alex McDonald and Maggie McDonald.
Pallbearers will be James Love, Troy Love, Shawn Love, Burlon Goldman, Troy Daugherty, Mike Fox, Perry Thompson, Kenneth Thompson, and Barry Sticisher.
