Funeral service for James Hollis Holmes, 76, of Stouts Mountain will be held at 3 P.M. Thursday, February 20, 2020 in the chapel of Hanceville Funeral Home followed by interment at Fairview West Cemetery. Hollis’ family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday beginning at 1 P.M.
An animal control officer for Cullman, he was born in Cullman on October 28, 1943 the son of the late John and Ivalene Reeves Holmes. He is survived by Brenda Sue Holmes, his wife of 53 years; children; Dana Holmes, Destry Holmes and Brett (Leslie) Holmes all of Stouts Mountain and Jana (Buck) Turner of Good Hope. Also his grandchildren; Justin (Cara) Turner, Alexis, Braden and Isaac Holmes and Julee Sue Turner, a brother, Don Holmes, sisters; Nancy Moore and Linda Copeland and good friend Robert Staton.
Serving as pallbearers will be Destry, Brett, Braden and Isaac Holmes, Buck Turner and Justin Turner.
Hollis was preceded in death by a brother, Hershel Holmes and a sister, Melba Christian.
