James H. “Jim” Sutton, age 76 of Cherokee, passed away on Monday, May 20, 2019. His visitation will be Wednesday, May 22 at Morrison Funeral Home, Cherokee from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be Thursday, May 23 in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 p.m. with Chuck Lansdell officiating. Burial will follow in Cherokee Memorial Park.
Jim was a native of Cherokee, Alabama and a member of Lane Springs Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents, George Washington and Dovie Lee Sutton; sisters, Ellen Johnson and Helen Grissom.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Shirley Sutton; children, Beverly Weaver (Eric), Johnny Sutton, James O. Sutton, Crystal Huddleston (David),and Tabatha Sutton, brother, Johnny F. Sutton; sister, Christeen Adams (Junior); grandchildren, Shane Trowbridge, Jessica Sutton, Marisa Gaines, Leslee Sutton, Hunter Huddleston, Marcus Sutton, Tiffany Sutton, Colin Huddleston, and Lexi Rhodes; 5 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Barry Winsted, Rex Golliver, James David Hamm, Frankie Adams, Neeley Adams, Troy Grissom, Dewayne Stout, and George Johnson. The family would like to extend special thanks to Alacare Hospice.
