Mr. James Gilbert “Jimmy” Shelton passed away at his home Wednesday, October 4, 2023. “Jimmy” was born in Ardmore, Tennessee to William Jack Shelton and Marjorie Hargrove Shelton on Thursday, April 16, 1936.
Mr. “Jimmy” has lived here all his life and was a member of Ardmore Methodist Church. He was a longtime member of the Gatlin Cemetery Board and never missed a meeting.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Derrick Shelton; and sister, Rita Faye Thomas.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Ann Shelton of Ardmore, AL; son, Dexter (Amy) Shelton of Athens, AL; grandchildren and their mother, Katie (Drew) Silva of Atlanta, GA, Carly (Brian) Nelson of Athens, AL, Samuel Shelton (Tasia Laster) of Athens, AL and Becky Shelton of Athens, AL; great grandchildren, Cole Nelson, Parker Nelson, Jack Silva, Claire Silva, and Gracie Silva; several nieces and nephews; along with a host of friends.
Visitation will be Saturday, October 7, 2023 at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home, Ardmore, AL from 12 Noon until 1:45 PM followed by a Graveside Service at 2 PM at Gatlin Cemetery, Ardmore, AL with Debbie Eubanks officiating.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Starnes, Doug Wales, Randy Hobbs, Kenneth Camp, Stanley Mitchell, and Wade Boggs.
In Lieu of Flowers donations may be made to Ardmore Methodist Church, P.O. Box 5, Ardmore, Tennessee.
