Funeral Services for Mr. James “Frankie” Dingler, age 79 of Delta, will be held on Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. John Roberts officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Union D. Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Dingler passed away on Friday, October 4, 2024 at his residence surrounded by family and friends. Frankie was born on June 20, 1945 to Jim Frank and Margie Dingler in Shinbone Valley, Alabama. He served in the US Navy and later worked as a heavy equipment mechanic at the Anniston Army Depot. He settled in Shinbone Valley, which was always home to him. He enjoyed spending time with his family and absolutely adored his grandchildren. Frankie loved all things Chevrolet and Alabama football. He was a Baptist by faith and loved his family unconditionally. He was the honorary mayor of Shinbone after retirement and enjoyed spending time outside sitting in his gazebo, listening to trade line in the mornings.
Mr. Dingler is survived by his wife of 30 years, Kathy Dingler; his sons: T.J. Dingler (Amber) and Scott Eagle (April); his daughters: Melonie Watson, Christy Ader, and Denise Bevan; his grandchildren: Ethan Dingler, Paisley Dingler, Landon Dingler, Treston Dew, Ben Eagle, Chase Morgan, Max Watson, Lily Watson, Ford Ader, and Marley Ader; one brother-in-law, Mike Waldrop; one sister, Charlene Strickland; and one brother, Jackie Dingler (Linda); plus a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Jim Frank and Margie Dingler; his brothers: Gary Dingler and Jimmy Dingler; and his sister, Carolyn Waldrop.
Active Pallbearers will be Chris Waldrop, Mike Waldrop, Roger Nyland, Scott Nyland, Terry Sheppard, and Travis Strickland. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ethan Dingler, Landon Dingler, Ben Eagle, Wayne Dingler, James Hurst and Jerry Hurst.
His visitation will take place on Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville beginning at 12:00 P.M. until service time at 2:00 P.M.
The family would like to extend a huge thank you to Inhabit Home Health and Hospice; everyone was so great to Frankie and to us. We would like to especially thank his nurse Trista for her exceptional level of care and the love that she had shown Papaw and to our whole family! We also would like to thank the community of Shinbone as a whole, for coming together and supporting our family.
