Jim Cartwright

 James Finis Cartwright age 81 passed away March 28, 2018 at his home.
He was born August 24, 1936 in Saulsbury, TN the son of the late Finis James and Catherine Ardenia Sanders Cartwright. He grew up in Hardeman County and graduated from Whitehaven High School and then attended Christian Brothers College for a year. He married Vala Mae Garrett on June 30, 1957. He worked for Kenny’s Floor Covering in Memphis for over forty years retiring in 2000. He rode with the RTC Group (a Honda Goldwing riding club). He enjoyed photography and watching Tennessee Athletics. He was also a dog lover Skippy, Snoopy, TC, and Josh were some of his beloved pets. He was a member of the Henderson Church of Christ.
Mr. Cartwright is survived by his wife, Vala Mae Garrett Cartwright of Henderson; a daughter, Trina Cartwright Peery (Patrick) of Germantown, TN and a son, James Russell Cartwright (Denise) of Brighton, TN; a foster son, Daryl Lex Christian of Arlington, TN; six grandchildren, James Douglas Peery, Gordon Russell Cartwright, Garrett Catherine-Marie Peery, Corey Heath Cartwright, Alana Peery and Reese Edward Cartwright and a sister, Mary Martin Blocker of Valdosta, GA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Alice Cartwright Dennis.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, March 31, 2018 at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue with Ben Flatt and Roy Sharp officiating. Burial will follow in Grand Junction Cemetery at 2:30 PM Saturday.
The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue on Friday from 5:00 PM to 8 PM.
