Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Collier-Butler Chapel with Brooks Boyd officiating. He will be laid to rest at Rainbow Memorial Gardens with military honors.
The family will receive friends from 5 pm till 7 pm Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
Mr. McLeod was a native of St Clair County and a longtime resident of Etowah County. He was of the Church of Christ faith. Mr. McLeod was retired from the U.S. Air Force serving two terms in Vietnam and served one year in the Army National Guard. He enjoyed fishing and camping and had a passion for collecting old cars.
Preceding him in death was his parents, Herbert and Alma Toole; wife, Nettie Dubois McLeod; children, David McLeod and Patricia McLeod; siblings, Louise Airwood, Barbara Nabors, Edna Cranford, Gary McLeod, George McLeod, Marvin McLeod, Roy McLeod and Jack McLeod.
He is survived by his sisters, Doris Freeman, Gail Harris, Joan Reynolds, Peggy Stanfield and brother, Michael McLeod; children, Sherry Smith, Wendell McLeod and James McLeod, Jr.; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Shawn Gray, Scottie McLeod, Ricky Cranford, Tyler Barnett, Jacob Barnett and Andrew Gray.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the nurses and staff with Aveanna Hospice.
