James Eugene Pruitt

James Eugene Pruitt, 69, passed away in Jefferson City, MO on May 17, 2023. He was the retired owner of Interstate Batteries and a member of Starkville Church of Christ. He enjoyed hunting, playing pool, long range shooting, and working on the farm with the cows; “Butler Farm” was his happy place.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Pruitt and Virginia Phelps Pruitt; and sisters, Phillis Jett, and Mary Jane Butler.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon Pruitt of Starkville, MS; daughters, Heather Blair (Ray) of Starkville, MS, Crystal Collier of Starkville, MS, and Carrie Pruitt of Owensville, MO; son, Jared Pruitt (Tara) of Starkville, MS; and grandchildren, Trey Tyler, Adler Morgan, Lexi Reynolds, Alyssa Pruitt, Aubrey Blair, Joshua Pruitt, Macy Pruitt, Keegan Collier, Dane Thompson, Kaleb Thompson, and Kyli Melton; and 3 great grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled for Saturday, May 20, 2023 from 2:00-3:00 p.m. at Welch Funeral Home in Starkville, MS, with the funeral service immediately following. Wesley Thompson will conduct the service.
