James Essra Miller, 80, passed away Friday, December 8, 2023 at his home.  He was born in Marion County, AL to John L. and Lillie Belle Emerson Miller.  He was a self-employed logger and loved the outdoors and visiting with his friends at the sawmill.  He recently accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and savior.  He thought his three granddaughters hung the moon and had a very special bond and love for his great-grandson.

Funeral services will be Sunday, December 10, 2 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Red Bay, AL with Bro. Billy Nichols officiating.  Burial will be in Red Bay City Cemetery.  Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL will be in charge of arrangements.

His is survived by his wife of 62 years, Loretta Miller whom he married on July 20, 1961; three children, Kay Miller, Kim Martin (Clint Karushis) and Wesley Miller (Pam); granddaughters, Haley Harris (Chris), Kelly Walters (Tucker) and Hannah Martin (Hunter Malone); great-grandson, Denver Tritt Harris; brothers, Tomas Miller (Shelia) and Greg Miller; sister, Misty Miller and sister-in-law, Debra Miller.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Johnnie Miller and J.T. Miller and sister, Geraldine Caldwell.

Pallbearers will be Lee Miller, John Miller, J.R. Miller, Deshun Miller, Bert Bostick and Ronnie Wooten.

Visitation will be Sunday, December 10, 12-2 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL.
