James Elwood KingJames Elwood King, age 80, a resident of Santa Fe, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at Maury Regional Medical Center.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, September 16, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Maury Memorial Gardens, with military honors provided by the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will receive friends on Monday from 11:00am until the 2:00pm service hour at Heritage Funeral Home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

James was born on May 8, 1944, in Lebanon, Tennessee, to the late J.C. King and the late Ophelia Oliver King. He graduated from Spring Hill High School and pursued a career as an electrician with Union IBEW 412, dedicating many years to his work. A man of many talents, James enjoyed farming, raising goats, and building. He constructed the barn and all the shops on his farm, as well as various play equipment for his grandchildren. James and his wife had a compassionate spirit, taking in and raising many children as their own.  James will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his work, and his community, and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Marilyn King; daughters, Donna (Alan) Chumley, Emily Sue King, and Maria Paige King; son, James David (Traci) King; brother, Joe King; sisters, Frances Roberts, Betty Holder, and Bonnie Malugin; grandchildren, Michael Faulk, Samantha Oden, Steven (Cindi) King, Thomas (Bailey) King, and Christopher (Rachel) Chumley, great-grandchildren, Donavan Oden, Gabriel Oden, Allyssa Oden, Jackson King, Lincoln King, Aurora King, and Evalou Chumley; and several nieces and nephews.
