Mr. James Edward Pittman, age 90, passed away at Diversicare of Arab on Friday, July 12, 2024. James was born in Joppa, AL on December 2,1933 to Leonard Monroe Pittman and Grace Eula Hiett Pittman.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Grace (Hiett) and Leonard Pittman. He is survived by his wife of almost 70 years, Barbara (Adams) Pittman, and daughters and sons -in- law, Donna (Richard) Plumstead of Arab and Karen (Phillip) Pennington of McMinnville, TN, siblings Faye Hyatt of Arab, Ben Pittman of Lake St. Louis, MO, Wilford Pittman of Arab and Chuck (Diane) Pittman of Arab, 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
James spent several years as a supervisor at Lindberg Steel in St. Louis MO before returning to Alabama and working as a supervisor for Dana Corporation. After retirement, he loved spending time on his tractor, sharing childhood memories and tales with his grandchildren and visiting the mountains.
At his request, there will not be a memorial service.
