James Edward Boyd, age 83, of Lawrenceburg, TN passed away Thursday, December 14, 2023, at Maury Regional Medical Center in Columbia, TN. He was a native of Ooltewah, TN, a retired truck driver, and of the Baptist Faith. Mr. Boyd served his country in the U.S. Army.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dixie King Boyd; his father, Robert Lee Boyd; his mother, Naomi Agnes Long Boyd; his step-dad, Gilbert Cooley; his step-mom, Jodebob Gowen Boyd; one daughter, Teresa Bonita Ritter; and two brothers, Bobby Joe Boyd and Kevin Cooley.
He is survived by two sons, James Edward “Eddie” Boyd, Jr. of Linden, TN, and Robert Leon “Chipper” Boyd (Susan E.) of Social Circle, GA; two daughters, Angela Michelle Mayfield of Douglasville, GA, and Marsha Lynn Boyd of Muscadine, AL; three sisters, Patricia Craig (Gary) of Athens, AL, Martha Riddle (Wayne) of Ethridge, TN, and Brenda Long (Roy) of Senoia, GA; two brothers, Tommy Boyd (Mary Ellen) of Ethridge, TN, and Dean Boyd (Kay) of Ethridge, TN; seventeen grandchildren; thirty-three great-grandchildren; and his companion, Grace Howell.
Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM Monday, December 18, 2023, at Neal Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at Neal Funeral Home at 3:00 PM Monday, December 18, 2023, with Tim Cunningham officiating.
