  James Edgar Hollowell Profile PhotoJames Edgar Hollowell, age 94, passed away from this life peacefully on Monday, March 4, 2024.  He was at home surrounded by his family and friends.   He was born on November 25, 1929, in Lafayette County, MS to the late Robert Lee and Velma Hodge Hollowell. He was preceded in death by his wife Rosetta, daughter Terry and five brothers, Harold, Larry, Bill, Earl and Doris Hollowell. He is survived by son Ronnie Hollowell (wife Leslie) in Memphis, TN, daughter Sharon Hollowell in Raleigh NC, daughter Stephanie Kriese Johnson (husband David) in Jackson, TN. son Steve Kriese (wife Kathy) Tunica, MS and five grandchildren—Natalie Johnson Hall (husband Aaron), Jon David Johnson (wife Madelyne),  Hudson Hollowell,  Ariane Bogdanski (husband Chris) and Brian Cox and five great grandchildren  Coy David Johnson, Anne Walker Johnson, Ella Rae Johnson, Sydney Grace Hall and Piper Rose Hall.

Jim grew up in the farmlands of the Mississippi and moved to Memphis, TN where he owned Southern Bank Building Inc. Jim and his wife Rosetta Hollowell were married on November 2, 1972. He was active in SkyView Baptist Church and Broadmore Baptist Church in Memphis. After retirement, he and his wife Rosetta moved to Pickwick, TN where they enjoyed life at the lake. While in Pickwick, Jim was a beloved member of Hopewell Baptist Church. After moving to Jackson, TN, Jim was an active member of West Jackson Baptist Church. Jim was a loving husband, father, and Papa, with a contagious joy for life and generous spirit. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He leaves many fond memories with all who knew and loved him. He will be greatly missed by family and friends. Together, we celebrate his life, resting assured that he has left this worldly home to live eternally in Heaven.

SERVICES: The family will be receiving friends on Wednesday March 6, 2024, beginning at 11:00 a.m. and continuing until 12:00 p.m. with the funeral service following in New Generations Hall of West Jackson Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Isbell, Rev. Lonnie Sanders, and Rev. Ron Hale officiating.  Burial will follow in Ridgecrest Cemetery.

 

James lived a life full of love, laughter, and kindness that touched the lives of everyone around him. He was known for his warm smile, gentle demeanor, and unwavering compassion towards others. His legacy of generosity and dedication will live on through those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
