James Earl Hester, age 70, of Tuscumbia died Monday, March 23, 2015.
His funeral service will be Wednesday, 12 p.m. at Cox Blvd. Church of Christ with Larry Kilpatrick and Bud Mills officiating. His body will be placed in the church at 11 a.m. to lie in state. Burial will follow in Barton Cemetery.
Mr. Hester was a member of Cox Blvd. Church of Christ and was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Ellen Stringer Hester, his first wife Maggie Fay Beaver Hester and son, James Bryant Hester.
Survivors include his wife, Hilda Hester; sons, Kenny Hester, Mitchell Hester and step son, John T. Stacy; brother, Ted Hester; and sister, Mary Lou Riner.
Pallbearers are Wendell Riner, Edward Riner Jr., Darryl Rutland, Harold Howard, Thomas Olive and Pat Johnson.
Honorary Pallbearers are his grandchildren: Tyler Hester, Damon Hester and Bryant Hester; the 1960-1962 Cherokee Vocational High School Football Teams; Tim Mauldin, Ramond Beaver, John T. Stacy and Jacob Stacy; and other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Cox Blvd. Church of Christ disaster relief fund in memory of James Earl Hester.
