Graveside Services for Mr. James E. Jones, age 93 of Talladega, will be held on Monday, May 27, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. at Hatchet Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Wayne Hester and Rev. Steven Jones officiating. There will be no public viewing prior to services; however a meal will provided following the graveside service at Harvest Field Church.

Mr. Jones passed away on Saturday, May 25, 2024 at the Lineville Health and rehab. He was born and raised in Coleta Valley, and has lived there most of his life. His occupation was primarily in Maintenance, and he worked for Bemiston, the Marble Quarry, and for 15 years at the Image Mills in Talladega. In his later years, Mr. Jones enjoyed working on lawn mowers and cars as a mechanic. He found a passion in wood working, crafting crosses and picture frames, along with other trinkets, all out of Cedar. Mr. Jones was very humorous, always laughing and talking with his friends and family, and was well-liked in the community. He was a member of Harvest Field Church of God in Coleta Valley.

Mr. Jones is Survived by his wife, Louise Jones of Coleta Valley; his three sons: Ray Jones (Karen) of Talladega, Taft Jones (Penny) of Ashland, and Richard Jones (Sarah) of Coleta Valley; his step-children: Penny Jones (Taft), Steve Mitchell (Shanna), Pam Roberson (Tim), all of Ashland, and Mark Mitchell (Lisa) of Wedowee; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents: James Emory Jones and Olevia Sims Jones; his children’s Mother, Mary Lou Jones; one son, Jeffery Jones; 2 brothers, and 3 sisters.

Active Pallbearers will be Steve Mitchell, Mark Mitchell, Lane Mitchell, Brandon Jones, A.J. Reed, and Logan Broome.
