James E. Hampton – Obituary

morrisonJames E. Hampton (June 6, 1937 – February 16, 2016) went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Tuesday February 16, 2016.
James is survived by his wife of 59 years, Sue Clark Hampton; daughters Suzanne (Tandy) Vaughn and Joni (Kevin) Johnson; five grandchildren Jason (Erica) Vaughn, Matthew (Valerie) Vaughn, Emily Vaughn, Anna Kathryn Johnson, and Claire Johnson; and three great-grandchildren Addison, Emma, and Oliver.
James had a wonderful career as a State Farm agent serving the Shoals area for 44 years. He was active in community service by serving on the Muscle Shoals Board of Education for 17 years. James was an active member of Highland Park Baptist Church for over fifty years serving as a deacon and as church treasurer for 30 years.
Visitation will be at Highland Park Baptist Church Thursday February 18 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with the celebration of life following at 1:00 p.m. Brett Pittman and Tandy Vaughn will officiate. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Double Springs, AL.
Pallbearers will be Steve Butler, Tommy Whitehead, Alan Noles, Bill Bradford, Matthew Vaughn, and Jason Vaughn.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of his Sunday School Class and Bill Alexander, Johnny Malone, Jerry Knight, Jackie Trousdale, and Mark Smith.
The family offers sincerest thanks for all the cards, kind words, acts of kindness, and prayers during Pop’s illness.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Highland Park Baptist Church missions fund.
